Two years ago this month, on July 20, 2012, James Eagan Holmes walked into a movie theater in Aurora, CO and shot multiple rounds of ammunition off, killing 12 people and injuring 70. The victims were simply trying to enjoy a midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises.

It was a dark night indeed.

What possesses a person to kill random strangers? Even if one shoots a person known to him or her, it is disturbing. Shooting strangers? More disturbing.

It was later discovered that Mr. Holmes has some mental health issues. If you were to look him up on the Internet today, you’d see a dazed and confused-looking man, with bright red hair. His look is as wild as were his actions.

Two years later, the families of the victims are still recovering and Mr. Holmes has yet to stand trial.

Being reminded of violent acts such as this, I am more determined than ever, to present Jesus the Christ to a desperate culture. This world is full of walking time bombs like James Eagan Holmes. What makes our evangelistic presentations so challenging is that the culture does not know how much it needs Jesus.

Will you join me in praying and strategizing about how to present the life and death and present power of Jesus to people who need Him?

Glad the tomb is empty,
